Davido donates the N250m from his Crowdfunding to orphanages in Nigeria

Top Nigerian musician, Davido Adeleke has put the public in awe as he donated all the money given to him by friends, in celebration of his birthday, to charity.

It will be recalled that Davido had on Wednesday asked his friends to gift him one million each towards his birthday coming up on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

His friends and well-wishers responded in full force and the singer was able to raise N200,000,000 in less than two days.

In regards to this, Adeleke Jr. announced via his social media pages that the proceeds from his birthday fundraising from fans, colleagues, and friends will be donated to orphanage homes across the country.

Davido while speaking on the disbursement of the fund said that he was able to raise N200,000,000 in less than two days and that he will be making a personal donation of N50,000,000, bringing the total amount to N250,000,000.

He explained that he had set up a five-person committee comprising of three professors and one pastor for the disbursement of the funds to the orphanage homes and that the committee will compile a list of orphanage homes across the country and will share the funds according to their needs.

In a video also on his Instagram page, he appreciated everyone that contributed to the cause, explaining how the idea behind the donation started like a causal conversation and they ended up blowing his mind.

Celebrities that gifted Davido N1m includes Zlatan Ibile, Adekunle Gold, Mr Eazi, Nengi, Chike, Teni, Charles of Play, Cubana Chiefpriest, Naira Marley, M.I, Phyno, Eniola Badmus, Nasboi, Sydney Talker, and Peruzzi.

Others are Pasuma, Toke Makinwa, Don Jazzy, Focalistic, Ubi Franklin, Bella Shmurda, Friday Osanebi, Rema, Tunde Ednut, Larry Gaaga, Dorathy Bachor, Bizzle Osikoya, among others.

Kid comedians, Ikorodu Bois, however, sent the singer a sum of N5000 while Baba Ali sent N1.5m. Musician and singer, MC Galaxy, sent N3m while Oba Elegushi sent N5m to the singer.

The credits were not limited to just Davido’s friends but brands as well. Brands that donated to Davido include Kolaq Alagbo, Munch It, TravelBeta, among others.

Davido shared a copy of the statement via Twitter and wrote;
