Davido to perform at the 2022 World Cup closing ceremony in Qatar

Nigerian singer, Davido who has been off the media since the death of his three-year-old son, has been confirmed to perform at the 2022 World Cup closing ceremony in Qatar.

Davido was supposed to perform the ‘Hayya Hayya (Better Together) Official World Cup song with American singer, Trinidad Cardona, and Japanese singer Aisha at the opening ceremony a few weeks ago but couldn’t honor the invitation because of the tragic demise of his son, Ifeanyi.

Chinese businessman, Hung, who recently linked up with the ‘OBO’ crooner in Doha, Qatar, said Davido assured him of his performance at the Qatar world cup closing ceremony.

He wrote;

“So happy my bro @davido confirmed he will be performing at the World Cup Qatar closing ceremony.

Can’t wait to see him there”. 

While the public expressed their excitement, popular critic Daniel Regha said he is glad the singer is feeling better however, he doesn’t think he made the wise decision to perform at the world cup after he postponed his A.W.A.Y festival following his son’s death.

According to Regha, Davido ought to stand by his decision and decline any offer till next year.

He wrote, “Davido will be performing at the World Cup closing ceremony (reportedly), glad he is feeling better but I don’t think that’s a smart decision since he already postponed his A.W.A.Y festival by one year; He should stand by his decision & decline any offer till next year. No offence.”
