EPL: Arsenal bag three points in dramatic comeback victory against Tottenham
Arsenal reigned superior over Tottenham in Sunday’s North London Derby with a well-earned return to victory at the Emirates.
The Gunners fell behind 33 minutes into play when Erik Lamela curved in a remarkable rabona past Bernd Leno.
Mikel Arteta’s men found their way back into the game at the stroke of half time, thanks to Martin Odegaard’s effort in the 44th minute.
After the break, they continued their dominance and soon got rewarded with a penalty in the 64 minutes, and Alexandre Lacazette made no mistakes from the spot.
Barely ten minutes after Arsenal took the lead, Spurs’ day went from bad to worse when Lamela got sent off for a second yellow card.
Despite the victory, Arsenal is still in 10th place on the log, but the defeat saw Jose Mourinho’s men go six points adrift of Chelsea in fourth, with a game in hand.
Off to their next task, Arsenal will be looking to build on this victory and a 3-1 lead when they welcome Olympiakos to The Emirates for a Europa League last-16 second-leg tie on Thursday, while Tottenham is in action against Dinamo Zagreb on the same day, taking a 2-0 advantage to Croatia.
In the premier league, Mikel Arteta’ men will make a trip in serving of another three points to Gunners’ West Ham United on Sunday and Tottenham to visit Aston Villa on the same with hopes of getting a bounce-back victory.
