EPL: Arsenal ends four-game winless run with victory over Sheffield United

Arsenal ended a four-game winless run and recorded their first clean sheet in 15 games with victory over relegation-threatened Sheffield United, thanks to Alexandre Lacazette brace and Gabriel Martinelli goal since January 2020.

Alexandre Lacazette put the Gunners ahead in the 33rd minute as the visitors held on to the lead into the break.

After the break, the hosts thought they could get back into the game, but all hopes of that were pretty laid to rest when 19-year-old Gabriel Martinelli found the back of the net for Arsenal in the 70th minute.

Fifteen minutes later, Lacazette got his second, his 50th EPL goal and Arsenal’s third to further heighten Sheffield United’s woes, who have won only four games.

The win moved Arsenal up to ninth in the table, with 45 points.

Arsenal will be active again on Thursday when they take on Slavia Prague Europa League quarter-finals second leg. At the same time, Sheffield United will square up against Wolves in the premier league on Saturday.
