EPL: Manchester United succumb to defeat in season opener

Despite putting up a relatively impressive pre-season performance, Manchester United suffered a humiliating defeat to Brighton in their opening game of the new season.

Two first half goals from Pascal Gross,  set Erik ten Hag on course for a losing start in his first official game as Manchester United’s manager.

Cristiano Ronaldo was introduced in the second half of the game and though United threatened a comeback when scramble in the 18 yard box of the visitors saw  Alexis Mac Allister, gift the host an own goal, it wasn’t enough to stop Brighton from grabbing their first ever win at Old Trafford.

It is definitely not the start the former Ajax boss hoped for, but it’d just the first game of the season and a lot can happen, as the season processes.
