EPL: Manchester United suffer shocking defeat to Aston Villa
Aston Villa stunned Manchester United to a 3-1 win in Unai Emery’s first game as Villa manager.
The hosts had not beaten United on home soil in the league since 1995, but were 2-0 up barely 11 minutes into the game, thanks to goals from Leon Bailey and Lucas Digne’s 25 yards screamer.
Luke Shaw’s shot took a defection, pulling one back for the visitors just before the break, giving Ten Hag’s men a lifeline for a possible come back after the break.
However, United failed to build on that, as Jacob Ramsey made it three after the break, handing Villa a smooth start to life under Emery, who once coached Arsenal.
The win moved Aston Villa up to 13th, three points above the relegation zone, while Manchester United remain fifth.
