EPL: Ruthless Liverpool put Seven past Crystal Palace

Christmas came early for reigning Premier League champions Liverpool. With sheer dominance, they put seven past Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park to go six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, reminding everyone why they are champions.

It’s the first time that the scouses have scored seven goals in a top-flight game. Each goal was assisted by seven different players, the first in the league, as well.

Forwards, Roberto Firmino, Radio Mane, and Mohamed Salah were all on target for the reds and assisted for the first time.

Liverpool took the lead in the third minute as Mane set up Minamino. The Senegal international then doubled the advantage in the 35th minute, before Firmino tapped home to round off the first half.

But more was to come after the break, as Captain Henderson curled in a fourth before Firmino added his second. Substitute Mo Salah added a brace to seal off for a rather scintillating week for Liverpool, ensuring they are at the top at Christmas for the third consecutive season.

With the victory, Jürgen, who is still reeling from his FIFA the Best coach award, has now surpassed Rafeal Benitez to become the Liverpool manager with the highest EPL history wins. Edging Bayern’s Hansi Flick to win the prize turned some head, but now and then, Klopp keeps proving to the world why he is one of the best managers in present day football.

As for ‘poor’ Crystal Palace, they never really had a chance, and their rather devastated coach, Roy Hodgson, knows this.
