Euro 2020: Impressive Scotland holds England to barren draw
The highly anticipated UK Derby between England and Scotland ended in a goal less with the Scots puting out a very spirited display against Southgate’s rather underwhelming England side in their first meeting in a major tournament since Euro 96.
Scotland, who were the underdogs heading into the game bounced back from their opening defeat by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park to out up a really resilient display to take an all important and deserving point.
The game could have gone either way with both teams missing some really good chances, but the result now leaves Group D very open as all four team have a chance of qualifying for the Round of 16.
England, with a win over Croatia in their opening game, now have a chance to overtake the Czech Republic and win Group D in their final game on Tuesday, while Scotland will be aiming for victory against Croatia who were held to a 1-1 draw by Czech Republic in their second group game.
