Euro 2020: Italy see off Belgium to set up Semi-final clash against Spain

Italy will square up against Spain in a Euro 2020 semi-final match after seeing off Belgium in an intense quarter-finals encounter in Munich.

Both teams had been tagged favourites to win the tournament, so a game between them was highly rated, and it did not disappoint.

An edgy and breathless clash, but it was the Azzurri’s who deservedly earned the day with a 2-1 victory.

The three goals of the game all came in the first half as Nicolo Barella opened the scoring for Italy before Lorenzo Insigne doubled the lead with a beautiful finish.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back from the spots to give Belgium some hope heading into the break, however after the break, try as both teams may. The scoreline remained unchanged, and Italy had nothing but excitement oozing off them at the sound of the final whistle.

On the other hand, Spain survived the elimination scare by defeating Switzerland 3-1 on penalties and will be hoping to make it past Roberto Mancini’s high-flying Italy when they trade tackles in yet another showdown of the tournament on Tuesday at Wembley.
