Euro 2020: Spain held to a frustrating draw in the opening game against Sweden

Spain was forced to endure a frustrating opening game in the ongoing Euro 2020. They failed to make the best of their impressive and dominant display against Seville’s rather resolute Swedish side.

Luis Enrique’s side enjoyed the vast majority of possession with 85% against Sweden’s 15% and over 15 shots. Still, it was unable to take advantage of all the good opportunities they’re created, with Juventus forward, Morata, taking most of the fall for the missed chances.

The result in front of disappointed Spanish fans in Seville means Slovakia have the early advantage in Group E thanks to their “shocking” 2-1 victory over Poland earlier on Monday.

The Swedes will be back in action on Friday to take on Slovakia in Saint Petersburg, Russia. At the same time, Spain will welcome Poland on Saturday in Seville with the hope of remedying their slow start to the tournament.
