Euro qualifier: Ronaldo bags brace in record international appearance
Cristiano Ronaldo set the record for the most capped player in international football with his 197th appearance for Portugal in style as he bagged a brace in his country’s Euro 2024 qualifying opener’s 4-0 victory overΒ Liechtenstein.
The former Real Madrid player made his international debut in 2003 and before the game, he was tied on 196 appearances with Kuwait forward Bader Al-Mutawa.
With the two goals which came in the second half, the 38-year-old now also has a men’s record of 120 international goals.Β
Joao Cancelo, the opener, and Bernardo Silva were the other goal-scorers in Portugal’s dominant display.Β
