Europa League quarter-finals: Manchester United earn vital away victory over Granada

Manchester United look set on making it to the Europa League semi-finals after recording a crucial away win over Granada in the first leg of their quarter-finals encounter on Thursday.

Marcus Rashford fired United in front with a sublime finish off Victor Limdelof’s well-read long pass from the back.

The hosts failed to take their chances with Yangel Herrera, on loan from Manchester City and former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado, both missing the target.

Ole Gunnar’s men doubled their lead late on as Bruno Fernandes made no mistake from the spot following a foul on him by Granada’s Yan Brice.

The second leg of the tie is at Old Trafford in a week, with the winners advancing to a semi-final against either Ajax or Roma, with the Italian side leading that ties 2-1 after the first leg in the Netherlands.
