Fasoranti Reaffirms Support for Tinubu
Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of the Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, has reaffirmed his position as the group’s leader and endorsed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s bid for the presidency of the All Progressive Congress.
In a viral video that Vanguard kept an eye on, Fasoranti claimed that the group had never sponsored Mr. Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party.
He declared that “I am still the leader of Afenifere. Afenifere has not endorsed Obi, and we are endorsing Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Jagaban) for the presidency.
“As you can see, the trend, the approval and the acceptability. You could see what happened when Tinubu came to meet me in Akure. The media carried the whole thing.
“Adebanjo cannot warn me not to welcome Tinubu. Can he do that successfully?
“What happened was that Adebanjo took a stand, and I took a stand. I didn’t call him, and he didn’t call me. We never spoke about the visit.
He added that “As you can see, Jagaban is accepted, and we approve of him. Obi has no stand in our mind at all.”
Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba sociopolitical organisation, has split after some leaders endorsed Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate. Tinubu paid a visit to Pa Fasoranti on Sunday in Akure, where the former governor of Lagos State received support.
They also cautioned the APC candidate not to make them regret supporting his run for president.
Recall that Peter Obi, the LP’s presidential candidate, had earlier received the support of Afenifere leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
