Former Reps Member Blast National Assembly over Failure in Responsibility

A former member of the House of Representatives, Sani Sha’aban, has said the National Assembly could not impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the rising insecurity across the country.

The APC chieftain stated this on Thursday in Kaduna while briefing reporters in the state capital.

Shaaban attacked the National Assembly members for allegedly failing in their oversight responsibilities, particularly with regard to security and the economy, insisting that the federal parliamentarians have a significant portion of the blame for the nation’s economic and security problems.

He claimed that they only want to do oversight duties when they are in need of money to receive allowances with the phrase “Ghana Must Go” attached.

Sha’aban, who served as the National Assembly representative for Zaria Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007, called the current threat by National Assembly members to impeach the President “laughable and a great joke.”

He claimed that some National Assembly members were behind the impeachment process because they wanted to use President Buhari as a scapegoat despite having failed in their representative duties and lacking what they would tell their constituents if they ran for reelection.
