Gov Buni Commits to Giving Women Opportunity in Politics

The Governor of Yobe state and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, has said his administration will continue to play more significant roles in ensuring more women’s opportunities in the party.
The Chairman stated this while commemorating with women on the International Women’s Day celebration.

Buni said the party would give maximum support in ensuring that women aspire for more elective offices.
According to him, “More women will be given more roles and opportunities to fly the party’s flag in future elections.
“I urge women politicians to take advantage of the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise to register to aspire for public offices on the platform of the party,” Governor Buni said.

He added that the ruling party is the most women-friendly party in Nigeria in which women can quickly realize their political ambitions.
“The APC administration would continue to support Nigeria women to actualize their political and professional ambitions locally and internationally”, the Chairman said.
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Professor Nora Ladi Dadu’ut, has lamented on low participation of women in politics.

She stated that Nigerian Women deserve to be encouraged to participate in politics, governance and public affairs in general without discrimination.
“Women deserve better opportunities in all sphere of human endeavours considering their contributions to the national development.”

The Senator stated that “women are hardworking, pillar of their families, good managers and formidable allies and great mobilizers when it comes to politics. We therefore deserve more recognition in Nigeria than what we are experiencing presently. I am proud of women of Plateau especially those from my consistency Plateau South.”

“There are quite lots of women across Nigeria that can do much better than what the country is experiencing now if given more opportunities to demonstrate their commitments.
Didn’t has also promised to empower women and Youths of her consistency at all times.

The International Women’s Day is marked annually on March 8th, a global day celebrating women’s achievements and society’s role. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year.
