“I am a COMEDIAN, not a crossdresser”- James Brown cries out amid jail threats
Popular Nigerian crossdressers have taken to several platforms to renounce their identity ever since the House of Representatives introduced a bill to prohibit cross-dressing with an amendment to the Same-Sex (Prohibition) Act.
The bill to prohibit cross-dressing in Nigeria was introduced by Umar Muda, a member of the House of Representatives, and if passed into law, cross-dressing will become an offence in the country with the exemption of those using it for entertainment and offenders will be liable to be jailed for six months.
Following the recent report, popular crossdresser, James Brown in an Instagram post clearly stated that he is not a crossdresser but a comedian and a drag queen.
In his words;
”Point of correction, I am NOT a cross dresser. I am a DRAG Queen. Do your research before you come for me . My job is to entertain using my personality and my beauty , you already know the vibes ! I am a COMEDIAN. You thought I was making you laugh for no reason.
“I am PRINCESS OF AFRICA, This bill has nothing on me . Don’t underestimate the power that I carry Ask my fans , ask those that know me personally ,on a daily, I give you James without all the glam and the feminine touch. Abeg efi mi si le, let me enjoy my life . Omo to dun toyin.”
James Brown isn’t the first to denounce his identity. Tobi The Creator who became popular for wearing female clothes while creating videos and posing in photos also denied being a crossdresser.
Bobrisky on the other hand clearly stated that he is not a crossdresser, but a complete woman. He said that he has undergone multiple surgeries to change his sex and those surgeries can’t be reversed. He boasted that even the court will agree with him that he is a girl because has all the attributes of a female.
He said, “I’m not a cross-dresser, I’m a woman. I have done many surgeries that can’t be reversed such as lipo, boobs, etc. When the time comes, even the court self go confirm am say I’m now a girl.
I still have many upcoming surgeries to be done. Na who be crossdresser go they fear. I have all my doctor’s reports on all my surgeries”.
