“I was disappointed Wizkid did not attend my wedding”- Banky W

Bankole Wellington, known popularly as Banky W, made certain revelations about his relationship with the afro best star, Wizkid and how he felt about Wizkid’s absence at his wedding.

Banky W and Adesua Etomi had one of the most talked-about weddings in the entertainment space back in 2017, but unfortunately, Wizkid was not in attendance, considering their relationship.

In a recent chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the BlackBox interview series, Banky W revealed that he was disappointed with the former EME signee for not showing up at his wedding.

However, Banky W stated that Wizkid’s presence at the ‘One Africa’ event held in Dubai at that period, might be the cause of his absense.

“Was I disappointed that he wasn’t at the wedding? I was but I know he tried because there was a show with a lot of the artists…I think it was One Africa,” he said.

“As a matter of fact Tiwa ended up…there was business class and she took an economy seat so she could make it. But he called at the time that he was so sorry.

Responding to Banky’s disappointment claim, Wizkid in his usual manner left a short message as a response to Banky W’s interview.

“LOL,” he tweeted.

Banky also addressed his relationship with Wizkid, their contract, and their relationship after his exit alongside his wife, Adesua Etomi.

Talking about Wizkid’s exit, Banky W noted that when the singer was ready to leave, he had not fulfilled the terms of his contract and had only released two of the five solo albums stipulated in his contract.

Banky W said, “I think it was a five-album deal, and he had done two solo albums… I think he still owed three more albums, but he wanted to leave. And for me, that was enough because I don’t want anybody to stay where they want to stay.”

When Ebuka asked if he (Banky W) had tried to convince Wizkid to stay, he replied, “No, because I could tell that mentally he was ready to do other things. For me, I just felt like some things are just meant to happen for a season, and that was the season we were meant to work together.”

Wizkid had joined EME in 2014, releasing two albums, Superstar (2011) and Ayo (2014), before leaving the label in 2014.
