I will never leave PDP for ‘cancerous’ APC – Wike

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to ignore the ‘manipulated video’ making rounds that he will be leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike debunked the claim in a statement on Wednesday by his spokesman Kelvin Ebiri. The viral video purported that the governor plans to defect from the PDP following his loss at the recently conducted presidential primary election.

However, Ebiri has said the video making the rounds was an excerpt from a previous interview the governor had regarding the defection of Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike had in the interview said the reason given by the Ebonyi State governor for his defection was untenable.

“The excerpt of the interview in circulation has been deliberately manipulated by some desperate and unscrupulous persons with obnoxious agenda.

“The video being circulated intends to mislead the unsuspecting public, particularly members of the PDP,” the governor explained, urging the public to disregard the manipulated video.

Governor Wike also stated that he has frequently stressed that he will never, under any circumstances, leave the PDP, which has provided him with the opportunity to succeed in politics.

The governor asked the public to disregard the altered footage, claiming that those behind it were ruthless and trying to deceive the people.

Wike assured all Nigerians that he remains a faithful, committed member of the PDP and will never leave it for ‘cancerous’ APC.
