Inter Milan Through To Europa League Final

Inter Milan cruised into the Europa League final and back into the final of a European competition for the first time since their memorable treble of 2009-10 under Jose Mourinho with a comfortable and emphatic 5-0 victory against German side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Antonio Conte’s side took the lead in the first half with a goal from Lautaro Martinez, a lead they maintained into the break.

Midway through the second half, Shakhtar saw their chance of levelling and getting back into the game wasted by Junior Moraes just moments before they got punished for the miss with a goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio, extending Inter’s lead.

It went all downhill for Shaktar as a rampant, dominant and more coordinated Inter capitalized on their lack of urgency by scoring 3 more goals in the 74, 78 and 83 minutes, from Martinez and Romelu Lukaku respectively.

Romelu Lukaku’s brace saw the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton striker extend his scoring run in the Europa League to 10 matches.

Shaktar, who were fishing for a second European Final, having won the Uefa Cup in 2009 were left disappointed and full of regrets for all the chances they failed to take in the one legged Semi-finals fixture.

A trophy hungry Inter Milan will square up against Spanish side and five times Europa League champions, Sevilla on Friday in what would be a showpiece and the Italian side’s tenth European Final..

Who are you rooting for, Inter or Sevilla?
