It is Laughable to Threaten to Kidnap President  Buhari – Mohammed

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has said it is laughable to threaten to kidnap president Muhammadu Buhari

He made the comment while speaking after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

“As to those who have issued threats to Mr President, I think it is more of propaganda than anything. It is laughable,” Mr Mohammed said

“I want to reassure you that the government is up to the task of ensuring security. Security challenges will come anywhere in the world. The important thing is that you do not lose focus, and you continue to work assiduously to overcome it.

“I want to assure you that we are going to overcome.”

On July 24, terrorists thought to be Boko Haram members uploaded a popular video.

The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai, and the president were both threatened in the video by the militants.

The Guardian had reported that the terrorist was irked by Federal Government’s inability to meet their demands.

The terrorists, suspected to be members of Ansaru, also stated that they would abduct other prominent Nigerians and cause mayhem in the country.

The nearly three minutes video showed a bearded passenger, who was asked to speak on their behalf, saying the terrorists told them that they did not plan to keep them hostage for more than a week but the government’s nonchalance. He, therefore, called on the international community and the United Nations (UN) to come to their aid since the government has failed to ensure their freedom.
