Japan stun Germany in memorable World Cup win

The true beauty of every world cup is always the shockers and upsets, and this tournament is already serving us, barely four days into commencement.

A day after Saudi Arabia came from behind to hand Argentina a shocker, Germany received theirs from Japan.

The Germans took the lead in the first half, through Ilkay Gundogan’s spot kick.

Foam pulled one back for the Asians in the 75th minute and Takuma Asano went on to complete the comeback in the 88th minute, much to the delight of all Japanese around the world.

The result means Germany, who lost their opening game in 2018, have now lost two world cup openers for the first time in their history.

Germany are up next against Spain, while Japan will face Costa Rica in their next Group E game.
