Kanye West and Jay Z reunites on ‘Donda’after years of Beef

After years of tension, Kanye West and JAY-Z had a surprise reunion at the launch of Kanye West’s latest album, Donda.

While the reunion has given fans cause for celebration, their beef has been running for so long now that it’s hard to remember where it all began. However, the duo appeared to have buried their feud after West played a collaboration featuring Jay-Z.

West appeared in the middle of the arena as he played songs featuring Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Pusha T, Travis Scott and finally, Jay Z was featured on what seemed to be the last track on Donda.

Jay’s verse teased a possible sequel to the pair’s 2011 collaborative album, ‘Watch the Throne’. It also described his relationship with West as that of “Moses and Jesus”.

“Told him to stop all that red cap, we going home. Cannot be with all of these sins casting stones/This might be the return of The Throne, Throne/Hova and Yeezus like Moses and Jesus/You’re not in control of my thesis,” Jay-Z’s verse reads.

It was later revealed by Young Guru on Twitter that it was a last-minute collaboration and  Jay-z recorded his verse just an hour before the event. “HOV did the verse today!!!! At 4 pm,” Guru tweeted.

This is the first time the two have appeared on a track together since Drake’s 2016 song, “Pop Style.” They dropped their collaborative album, Watch the Throne, in 2011.

The two had been working together since the ’90s when West was recruited to produce tracks for JAY-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. Until those friendly days seemed but a distant memory.  Rumours had it that the pair had first fallen out in 2014 when Jay-Z and his partner Beyonce did not attend Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s highly publicised wedding.

In the following years, they took several swipes at each other, including when West appeared to criticise Jay-Z for not checking in on his family after Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, in 2016.

Kim Kardashian also showed her support to Kanye by attending his Album Release Party, held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. She went alongside all her kids and her sister, Khloe, to celebrate Kanye’s highly-anticipated 10th studio album. – DONDA

Even though they’re not together anymore, the former couple believes it’s important to continue supporting one another in their lives and careers. “I will forever be Kanye’s biggest fan,” Kim earlier told Enews

Other attendees at the listening party, which was live-streamed on Apple Music, included stars like Shaquille O’Neal, CeeLo Green, Big Boi and Jadakiss.

DONDA is named after Kanye’s late mum who died at the age of 58 following plastic surgery complications in 2007.
