La Liga: Benzema scores as Real Madrid maintains unbeaten run with victory over Elche

Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema was on the score sheet as Real Madrid defeated Elche 3-0 to continue their unbeaten run and extend their lead at the top of the table to six points. 

Federico Valverde opened the scoring for the visitors 11 minutes into the game.

Madrid had to chances to increase the deficit but David Alaba and Karim Benzema’s hosl git ruled out after a VAR review. 

However, undeterred but the disallowed goal, Benzema eventually got a goal in the 75th minute.

Marco Asencio made it three for the defending Champions in the 89tj minute. 

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have now won nine games and recorded one draw in their last 10 matches as they look to retain the title ahead of arch rivals, Barcelona, who sit second on the log.
