La Liga: Real Madrid extend lead with win over Valencia

Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of La Liga to eight points with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu and took their unbeaten home run in the La Liga to 27 games.

Off to a slow start, Carlo Ancelotti’s side took the lead a few minutes before halftime, through a Karim Benzema penalty, the in-form Frenchman’s 300th Real Madrid goal.

After the break, Madrid came much more alive as a brace from Vinicius Junior increased the deficit to 3-0.
Goncalo Guedes scored a saved penalty rebound late on,  but Benzema struck again to make it four, a few minutes from stoppage time, tally his goal tally to 301, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul and Alfredo Di Stéfano in the club’s all-time list of top scorers.

The victory means Real hold an eight-point lead at the top of La Liga from Sevilla, who have two games in hand and face Getafe on Sunday.
