Lai Mohammed receives Criticism over the State of the nation.
The Minister for Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been blasted for spreading lies while discharging official duties.
The House of Representatives member, Hon Ben Igbakpa, representing the Ethiope federal constituency, disclosed this yesterday with journalists.

In a statement, the minister had compared the past administration to that of President Mohammadu Buhari, saying “despite the rising security challenges facing the nation, Nigeria is still safer under President Muhammadu Buhari than what he met on assumption of office in 2015.”

He described the minister’s utterances who was defending President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as disappointing, saying, “He is just telling lies and is even instigating problems to the current administration.”

According to him, “I am surprised that when people get into office, they forget that they are from somewhere and acted as if they will never leave the office.
“I am sure that if the minister were to be on the other side, he wouldn’t be talking the way he’s talking because all the things he’s saying as senseless and unpatriotic.

“Patriotism is not about standing with the President. It is about standing with the people and the constitution, but the minister’s utterances have been very, very disappointing in recent times.
“I remember when he was on the other side against former President Good luck Jonathan bit today, he seems to be eating his vomit.

“For me, his utterances of late do not make any sense, and I choose to ignore him because he doesn’t give Nigerians the reason he was appointed as Minister for Information which I believe there are specific functions attached to which is to tell Nigerians the truth and propagate the positives activities of the government he represents.
“But for Lai Mohammed, he is not doing any good, maybe because there is nothing much to showcase and other is that he is just telling lies, he is even instigating problems because some of his utterances are not statesmanlike and very disappointing.”

In a related development, Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, also described Lai Mohammed’s statement as irresponsible.
Frank rejected the minister’s claim saying Nigeria is today beset with the worst form of insecurity in her history. He insisted that the minister’s claim was “misleading, false and irresponsible.”
