Manchester United grab a narrow win against Arsenal as Cristiano Ronaldo hits goal-scoring milestone
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a record 800th and 801st career goal as Manchester United came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-2 in a dramatic encounter, which also marked the end of the road for caretaker Manager, Michael Carrick.
Arsenal grabbed a controversial opener through Emile Smith, and with Manchester United keeper, David De Gea lying on the fall, seemingly injured, the decision for the goal to stand following a VAR review has left fans divided against themselves.
The host tried to move on from the blunder and soon got rewarded when Bruno Fernandes levelled things up a minute before the break.
After the break, they took a more thrilling turn as Ronaldo put United ahead, but Martin Odegaard made it 2-2, barely a minute after.
However, it was United who have the last laugh, when Ronaldo made no mistakes from the spot-kick for his record 801 career goal, after a penalty was awarded following a VAR review of Odegaard’s challenge on Fred.
The result leaves United in sevdnthy place, three points off fourth-placed Arsenal.
