Members and Loyalists of our Party are Much loved and respected by me – Atiku

Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed optimism that the party will continue to be united and committed to its objectives.

Atiku asserted on Thursday via his verified Twitter handle as a veiled reaction to the plight of Wike and other aggrieved members of the PDP.

This follows the uproar that resulted from Atiku’s selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

The PDP candidate stressed that maintaining unity within the party’s community is his top goal while noting that the party was acting to meet the concerns of all members.

Atiku said, “Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then to society.

“Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me.

“When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced. -AA,” he said.

Meanwhile, On Wednesday, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State accused PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of disrespecting the democratic process when choosing his running mate.

In addition, Ortom referred to Atiku’s reluctance to approach Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and some other irate party members after choosing Governor Godwin Okowa of Delta State as his vice-presidential nominee.
