Nations League: Portugal edge past 10-man Croatia in a comeback victory, France sink Sweden

Portugal beat Croatia in a Nations League thriller on Tuesday thanks to Manchester City defender, Ruben Dias’ double, including a last-minute winner.

Following Marko Rog’s red card, Dias had earlier netted his first Portugal goal to cancel out an opener from Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic.

Joao Felix put Portugal ahead soon after but Kovacic was on target again to draw the hosts level.

But Dias struck late to snatch the win for Portugal.

Defeat by France on Saturday had ended Portugal’s hopes of reaching the finals and retaining the Nations League title they won in June 2019.

France 4 – 2 Sweden

Sweden’s 4-2 loss in France elsewhere in Group A3 means Croatia avoid relegation to the second tier.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud moved closer to Thierry Henry’s goal-scoring record as France survived a late rally to relegate Sweden.

Giroud netted in each half to move to 44 goals, seven behind the Arsenal legend’s mark.

A deflected Viktor Claesson shot put Sweden ahead but Giroud’s double and a goal from full-back Benjamin Pavard turned things around.

Robin Quaison’s goal gave Sweden some hope but Kingsley Coman sealed the win.

Sweden will now drop into League B
