Fast-rising Nigerian artiste Omah Lay and Tems were reported to have been arrested by the Uganda police yesterday, December 13, for disobeying the covid-19 guidelines.
The arrest was made known by Uganda police public relations officer Lukowoyesigyire on Twitter, saying the Katwe police have arrested omah Lay.
He also stated that the venue manager “one dungu ivan” and the event manager “prim kasana” are also in custody. He twitted:
“Nigerian Artist Omah lay has been arrested by katwe police, the manager of the venue one Dungu Ivan and the Events manager Prim Kasana are also in custody.”
Lukowoyesigyire went on to say that Tems was also arrested, alongside her manager, Muyiwa Awomiyi.
“Temilade Openiyi Aka Ms Tems (Artist) also been arrested with her manager Muyiwa Awomiyi.”
Omah Lay also took to his Twitter page to confirmed his arrest by the Ugandan police, revealing it has to do with his performance at the show. He tweeted;
“Yes, I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine. Omah
Oluwa na him comfort me.”
Lukowoyesigyire also stated that they would be sending their artists “Ykee Benda” to Lagos to perform in a concert. He wrote:
“We shall also be sending our artists to Lagos to have concerts there like Ykee Benda besides the omah lay concert held here.”
Nigerians have reacted to Omah Lay and tems arrest, asking the Uganda police to release them immediately as they have done nothing wrong. See tweets below:
On the other hand, rumor has it that the Uganda police has released Omah Lay, but we are yet to confirm it. He is, however, yet to release a statement concerning his release.
The question going around on social media is, if Omah Lay is said to be out of Uganda police custody, how about tems?
