Obi Cubana Responds to Accusations of Withholding CCTV Footage of Shooting Incident Involving Burna Boy
The Chairman of Cubana Groups, Obinna Iyiegbu, well known as Obi Cubana, has released an official statement following the reactions trailing the Cubana club shooting between Burnaboy and two clubbers.
Obi Cubana received heavy backlash for failing to release CCTV footage of the alleged shootout at his nightclub involving Burnaboy and two clubbers who suffered severe injuries.
According to a preliminary report by the Bar Beach Police Division, Burna boy and five police escorts visited Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos.
About four policemen waited outside while one of the policemen, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, who was in mufti, accompanied the Grammy-Award-winning artiste into the club.
According to multiple witness statements, the singer was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman. He was reported to have told Ibrahim to invite the woman to join him.
However, the lady’s husband was said to have lambasted the singer, insisting that it was disrespectful for any man to make advances at his wife.
After some minutes, Burna Boy reportedly made fresh advances at the woman.
This infuriated her husband further and his friends who had gathered at the club. “As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing,” said a senior policeman.
In the process, 27-year-old Lawrence was shot in the thigh while his friend, Tolu, was hit in the head by a bullet.
Just recently, Neme Brielle, the lady whose husband suffered injuries during the incident at Cubana nightclub, shared her own side of the story.
Briella in an Instagram post stated that it took the owner of the nightclub, Obi Cubana four days to reach out to them after the shooting, claiming he had no idea about it. She also said that the club couldn’t provide CCTV footage or a statement of the ugly incident.
Her revelation set the internet ablaze and Netizens dragged Obi Cubana for feigning ignorant to such an ugly incident, all in a bid to cover up for Burnaboy.
Reacting to the backlashes, Obi Cubana released an official statement that reads:
“As Regards the issues making rounds the social media, we at Cubana Group have given all information at our disposal to the legal authorities. However, we wholeheartedly sympathize with any/all those who may have been impacted by this. Myself and our group would never compromise standards, as we have confidence in the authorities to handle all. Best Regards”
Meanwhile, Burna Boy had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police command. The police command stated that the singer has become a fugitive and was under criminal investigation. The police have already alerted INTERPOL to track his movement.
