Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has refuted rumours that he received personal jets from “eminent” Nigerians for his campaign.
Former Anambra State governor Obi asserted that the allegations, which have gained widespread attention on social media, are false.
“Recently, several social media reports have alluded that some eminent Nigerians have donated their jets for my use during my campaign,” the presidential flagbearer tweeted on Sunday.
“In as much as I appreciate the expression of such hopes, I have never received any of such offer.”
Recently, there have been various rumours on social media that prominent Nigerians have given me the use of their private jets for my campaign. Despite how much I value the declaration of such hopes, I have never been the recipient of any such offer, Obi stated.
He prayed for God to bless them and asked him to protect those “eminent Nigerians” from being deterred by such comments.
“I pray that those eminent Nigerians mentioned are not unduly distracted by such social media utterances,” he added. “May God Almighty bless those eminent Nigerians always.”
