PDP is set to return as the ruling party in 2023- Orbih
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Dan Orbih, has said its party is ready to take back the presidential seat in the coming general elections.
His comments follow the successful completion of the national convention of the main opposition party at the weekend.
Dr Iyorchia Ayu had emerged as the national chairman of the party, with 20 other national officers; Orbih congratulated the new members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
He stated that Ayu’s victory had marked the beginning of a new beginning in the party’s history and a rekindled hope in Nigeria.
The National Vice-Chairman added that the convention was peaceful and well-conducted. According to him, “PDP has today shown, by the quality and outcome of its convention, that it has the capacity to offer Nigerians exceptional leadership in the management of its human and material resources.
“This convention was not only rancour-free, but it also provides great insight into the organizational capabilities of the PDP in sharp contrast to the maladministration that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has bequeathed the country in the last six years.
“With this great outing, PDP is set to return as the ruling party in 2023.
“I congratulate all of the new national officers, particularly our representatives from the South-South zone, the National Financial Secretary and National Women’s Leader, whose contributions to the growth of PDP are already well celebrated.”
Orbih further called on Nigerians to prepare to let go of the ruling party in 2023, saying, “APC has, in the last six years, inflicted so much insecurity, pain and agony on Nigerians that no wise person would want them returned to power.”
Recall that the former national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, had filed a suit to stop the national convention from holding but was successful admitted suit Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt dismissed the suit.
