Real Madrid suffers defeat to Valencia in heated encounter

Real Madrid missed out on the chance to move into second place following a 1-0 defeat away at Valencia.

But it wasn’t just three points that Carlo Ancelotti’s side lost, they also ended the game without Brazilian star, Vinicius Jr, who got sent off very late in the game for violent conduct, following a VAR check.Β

The decision to be sent off didn’t go down well with the 22-year-old who had been subjected to racist chants by fans of the home side, and he took to Instagram to make his position and displeasure known.Β

Vini has been backed by players, past and present as well as his coach, who noted during his post-match presser that the game should have been stopped, describing the incident as unacceptable, and the La Liga has called for an investigation into the matter.Β

The result left Madrid in third place, a point behind city rivals, Atletico, Valencia moved up to 13th on the log, giving points off the relegation zone.
