Reno Omokri Blast Baba Fryo over his comment on Davido’s N250M donation

Controversial activist, Reno Omokri has expressed his displeasure over Baba Fryo’s entitlement comment on Davido’s freewill donation of N250M to orphanages in Nigeria.

Baba Fryo in an Instagram post, criticized Davido for his huge donation after he had neglected him in his trying times.

“There is something that I have been seeing on social media that someone gifted orphanages N250m. To me, the thing is funny. I remember when I was depressed, they tagged many of my colleagues; they tagged Davido, Tuface, and others but none of them responded. It was people that have never seen me in this life, people that do not know me that responded.

If I see someone doing good, I appreciate them; I am not saying it is a bad thing. I just want to ask people why someone like me that people know, who cried out; why did they not help the person that they know? It is the people that they do not know or can see their faces that they are helping out with N250m. Let’s all think; will we call that wickedness or ignorance?

I tagged the Delta, Rivers and Lagos State governments, none of them came to my aid. Is that wickedness or ignorance? But today, I am seeing that N250m is going to be distributed to orphanages all over Nigeria. I will advise Nigerians to open their eyes”, Fryo lamented.

However, prolific author, Reno Omokri has responded to Baba Fryo’s critic, describing it as an “entitlement mentality”. Omokri demanded to know who Fryo helped when he was at the top and what he achieved when he was young. He also urged the veteran Singer to use his popularity to help himself if he really claims to be that popular.

In Reno’s words:

“Honestly, I can’t believe the entitlement mentality that Baba Fryo displayed. How can you condemn Davido’s ₦250 million donations to orphanages because “someone like me who is popular and well known was not helped, it is people and orphanages that no one knows that is being helped”?

You say you are popular. Use your popularity to help yourself, and allow the young man help orphans who have no popularity to capitalise on. Scripture says “It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young”-Lamentations 3:27. What did Fryo do for others when he was on top? No. Wrong question. What did he even do for himself when he was young?

Has he shown initiative? Did he even publish his account number, like Davido did, and people refused to donate? Other celebrities saw Davido’s action, and instead of complaining, they emulated him, published their account numbers and got love from their fans. Including two twins who just reunited.

Wow! I have never seen such entitlement in my life. Help me because I am popular? Really? Davido is young enough to be Fryo’s son. There is no better advert for the proverb that wisdom does not come with age than the case of Fryo and Davido. Use your youth well so you don’t end up like…”

Meanwhile, here’s how Netizens are reacting to Fryo’s claims:

King_keni12: Oga work your way out in life and stop depending on human ….nobody owe you a dime in life….only the f**lish will listen to what you are saying,if they can’t help you, help yourself and prove to the world that you survive without them.”

Iamxtreme12: “ baba is still frustrated… baba you for write Davido privately and say come my friend I am not okay oh bro.. make them show me love na, instead of this entitlement you Dey find like say na your right. Plus how una take be colleague sef? Una work work for same office or as how?”

Nliammike: We say no to iniquity…..giving is a great virtue but truth is many privileged people I know give publicly in order to receive accolades and increase their popularity, they shun giving in private because their is no publicity to be gained by that. I’m not saying that this is d case with Davido because I hear he does more giving in private….I wonder why he and others didn’t respond to u in ur time of distress. Well I think in all things good and bad, there are lessons to be learnt. I don’t depend on man but God,therefore any man that helps me is just a vessel for God to reach me. It’s well .”
