Ronaldo back on the score sheet as Man Utd see off Sheriff Tiraspol

Cristiano Ronaldo, back from a suspension, was one of the goal scorers, netting in his 701st career goal as Manchester United secured a routine 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in their Europa League encounter at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese powerhouse how was left out of the side for last weekend’s game against Chelsea as part of disciplinary actions against him, after he stormed out of Old Trafford during their midweek game against Tottenham, returned to the line up.

A dominant United got off to a first half lead, thanks to Diogo Dalot’s header.

After the break, substitute, Marcus Rashford made it two and Ronaldo who has had a rather good shift all night and was already getting frustrated as a goal didn’t seem forthcoming to crown his efforts, eventually lashed on to a pass from fellow countryman, Bruno Fernandes to make it three for Erik Ten Hag’s side and all but seal the victory for the home team and take their unbeaten run to seven games in all  competitions.

United will be up against Real Sociedad next week, in a game that will decide who finishes at the top of Group E.
