SDP will be in Aso Rock in 2023 – Falae

Chief Olu Falae, the party’s founding chairman, declared on Thursday that the Social Democratic Party is capable of winning the general elections in 2023.

Falae said this on Thursday during the formal opening of the party’s new National Secretariat in Abuja.

He claimed that while some believed it was impossible when he sought to resurrect the party, it has since grown in size and influence across the nation.

“SDP is the only party with the right technology, philosophy and manifesto. We deserve to rule Nigeria, and by the grace of God, we will be there.

“We have a good presidential candidate in the person of Adewole Adebayo, who has not only demonstrated his knowledge of the law but history, anthropology, architecture and other fields.

“We need someone with a broad mind and education like Adebayo to lead our country.

“The party may not have a governor today, but I have no doubt that SDP will be in Aso Rock and become governors in many states in 2023,” Falae said.

He commended the party leadership for its achievements, urging them to continue to bring back those who left the party and new members to work together to win the 2023 general elections.

Falae decried how many young men and professionals, including doctors, were leaving Nigeria to seek greener pastures.

“If we do not restructure and revive Nigeria, more and more young people will desert the country,” Falae said.

He claimed that by choosing Adebayo as the SDP’s presidential candidate, Nigerians would have the opportunity to select a leader who would reform the government and set a new course for the nation.

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the SDP presidential candidate, pledged in his remarks that if elected, he would be a better leader who would bring democracy and good government to Nigeria.

When elected, Adebayo promised to give Nigerians victory through quality security, healthcare, and education.

“If you want to know if I will be a better president, look at the decisions that I have taken.

“Of all the money bags and peoples of claim titles, I have chosen a youth, a leader of change, dynamic person, banker, economist and proven integrity, Yusuf Buhari as my running mate.

“SDP has the young person as the national chairman who represents the future.

“I am telling Nigerians that the alternative you have been looking for is here. The excuse that you don’t have a choice is gone.”

He cautioned Nigerians against listening to experts regarding the general elections in 2023, claiming that many people would be surprised by the results.

The SDP is a moving train aiming to win the general elections in 2023, according to Alhaji Shehu Gabam, the party’s national chairman.

“I don’t see any party defeating the SDP unless we are not committed. The array of our gubernatorial candidates who have contested elections before is overwhelming.

“If you mention any of them, people know them, and they will win for SDP. We don’t concede defeat. There is no defeat in our dictionary.”

In order to save Nigeria, Gabam asked party members to put aside their problems.

He characterised the new structure as evidence of the party’s leadership’s wise use of the party’s limited resources.

It was also proof, according to Gabam, that SDP would effectively manage Nigeria’s resources and that the party was prepared for the general elections in 2023.

The party’s officials and members were advised by Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a former liaison to President Shehu Shagari, to go back to the grassroots and rally support for SDP and its candidates.

Yakasai, who was represented by Dr. Umar Ardo, the SDP’s candidate for governor of Adamawa State, counselled the party to use the new Electoral Act 2022 to win elections.

“2022 electoral act is an opportunity for the SDP to mobilise for the party. There is no more room for rigging, and vote allocation has been tackled,” Yakasai said.
