‘She Is The Problem’ – Mercy Chinwo Accused of VeryDarkMan’s Arrest
Nollywood actor and producer Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, has stirred controversy by alleging that gospel singer Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Stanley made the claim on Instagram following VDM’s arrest last Friday by a combined team from the EFCC, DSS, and Nigeria Police Force. The activist was reportedly taken into custody shortly after leaving a bank in the Wuse area of Abuja, with multiple petitions filed against him, largely for alleged cyberstalking.

Reacting to the situation, Stanley distanced GTBank from the arrest, instead placing the blame on Mercy Chinwo.
“GTBANK is not responsible for VDM arrest at their premises. Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of VDM,” he wrote.
He further criticized Nigerian churches, labeling them as extensions of government power used to suppress public voices.
“Church is another government agency that uses our police, EFCC or military to intimidate citizens. Mercy Chinwo is the problem now, not GTBank,” he added.
It is worth noting that VDM and Mercy Chinwo have been involved in a legal battle following his online commentary on her past disputes with former record label boss Eezee Tee.
Stanley also revealed that after confronting Mercy Chinwo and her husband via Instagram to advocate for VDM’s release, he was blocked by the singer.
“Mercy Chinwo blocked me on IG last night because I told her husband and her to free VDM. It’s laughable how a minister of God would just block me for saying the truth,” he claimed.
Concluding his remarks, Stanley Ontop warned that he expects possible harassment from law enforcement for speaking out, but declared he is not afraid.
