Singer Tems Diagnosed with Reflux Laryngitis

Popular Nigerian singer, Temilade Openyi, aka Tems has been forced to take a break from music till further notice, after being diagnosed with reflux laryngitis.

Reflux laryngitis is a voice disease arising out of irritation and swelling in the vocal folds. The disease is caused by the backflow of stomach fluids like acids and enzymes, a process technically known as laryngopharyngeal reflux. These stomach fluids cause damage to the esophagus, throat, and voice box.

Tems informed her fans in an Instagram post that she was diagnosed with the illness after her last performance. She further added that she would have to take a break from music, and all her shows that were earlier scheduled had been postponed.

Tems was scheduled to perform in Birmingham on June 15 and London on July 17. As per doctors’ recommendation, both the shows have been postponed, and new dates for them will be announced soon. Tems however informed us that all tickets sold for the postponed shows are valid, and apologized for the inconvenience.

“On the doctors order, I have to postpone my two shows this week. The Birmingham show in June 15th (it’s tomorrow, yeah I know) and the first London show on 17 July.

“New dates will be announced. All tickets are still valid, again I am sorry. I am sorry for this inconvenience. But I promise to be back, better than ever by the grace of God.

“Then I’ll give you the best show ever. Appreciate you all for understanding. You mean the world to me. Love you”, she wrote.

The July 17 London show was supposed to be Tems’s first in the city, and she appeared to be extremely upset about postponing it. However, she has promised her fans of an exciting experience when she’s back and better.
