 Tems ‘Free Mind’ Receives RIAA Gold Certification 

Tems has had one of the fastest rises to stardom since her debut in 2018.

One of the tracks from Tems’ “If Orange was a Place” EP, “Free Mind,” which was released in 2020, has done well in the US, spending 14 weeks and reaching at Number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

According to information shared by chart news portal @Chartdata, Tems’ “Free Mind” is eligible for a Gold Certification having sold 500,000 copies in the United States.

In September 2020, Tems released her debut EP, ‘For Broken Ears’.

The third track on the EP, ‘Free Mind’, was produced by Tems and Omeiza. On July 25, 2022, ‘Free Mind’ debuted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tems is the fifth Afrobeats musician to receive a solo RIAA certification, following CKay, Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid.

The RIAA has awarded Davido’s “Fall” and Burna Boy’s “YE” gold certification, while CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” and Wizkid’s “Essence” have received X2 platinum certification.

Meanwhile, Tems  cover of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman, No Cry’ was used to score the sequel to the 2018 film ‘Black Panther’, which is scheduled to be released on November 11, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
