The Internet goes Beserk as Buju’s old Tweets condemning Popular Artistes Resurfaces
Nigerian Singer Daniel Benson, better known as Buju has been under the wrath of Netizens since his old tweets resurfaced online. In the old tweets, Buju called out and condemned popular Nigerian artistes. Indeed, the internet never forgets.
Buju, not knowing that he would one day be a popular artiste, made some rather implicating tweets. He specifically named a number of Nigerian singers and criticized their talent. He added that if everyone had his mentality, some musicians will not make it, Yemi Alade especially.
Referring to Davido’s music, he described him as “A childish cunt” adding that skelewu is the daftest song he has ever heard. Buju said Mr Eazi is overrated, Daddy yo, on the other hand, he called an ‘Anticipated Trash”.
He tweeted, “You see that Mr Eazi guy, yeah him …..O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D + Daddy Yo is the most anticipated TRASH. If I say that “Daddy Yo” song is trash now y’all probably go mad so YAY!! Mad Jam !! “
Wizkid, Davido, and Mr Eazi were not the only artists Buju trolled with his old tweets. He also took shots at Mavin Records singer, Rema. Twitter users like @Just_Silva simply wondered if Buju did not know he was going to become an artist.
“My own question is, when Buju was making those tweets, does he have any idea he was going to be an artist too?” @just_Siova asked. Another Twitter user, @antigravitylite said; “This Buju guy didn’t know he would be an artist one day or what? He insulted Wizkid and Davido in the past. U expect to be bigger than them now? Same goes to u trolls that want to be musicians, come and blow na. There’s one Dreylo that once insulted Wizkid. He’s an artist now”.
After Buju’s old tweets went viral, he admitted to being ignorant at that time. He said making music has made him realize that it’s easier to give “unsolicited takes” about another person’s music when you do not make music.
Admitting to his wrong, Buju wrote;
“Over the years, I have grown to understand that receiving or consuming music is wayyy easier than actually making music. It’s why when you don’t make music and all you do is consume, it’s easier toake unsolicited takes about another person’s music and that’s what I used to do… Sadly.
Lol in 2015/16/17 I didn’t know I was even gon make music. I just used to listen and criticize which is still allowed so far I no kill anybody but it was because I knew no better. So if people think it’s wise to criticize me over tweets from those years. It’s calm… It’s just joblessness sha. I know way better and I’m cool with everybody”.
Then he went ahead to delete the old tweets. Having deleted the tweets, trolls still came at him saying they already have screenshots and if they want they could send it to Davido so he would know that Buju is such a snake.
Buju had earlier promised to give his fans bragging rights and not to let them down for the trust they’ve shown to him since his arrival. His features on Ladipoe and Blaqbonez’ songs are among the best songs out this year. Add to that, his personal single, ‘Outside’. He also famously recorded with UK producer Jae5 when fans made it happen and worked with Asa and Tiwa Savage in one night.
