The Woman King,” Zendaya, Adam Sandler, Viola Davis nominated for 2023 SAG Awards

The nominations for the 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced to be held Sunday, February 26 and will broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube channel. Beginning in 2024, the show will stream globally on Netflix.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” secured two nods for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture as well as Angela Bassett’s nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her dynamic portrayal of the fictional character Queen Ramonda.

The acclaimed action drama “The Woman King” is also up for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, and the standout star, Viola Davis, earned a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Coming one day after a Golden Globes ceremony that also saw “Banshees” and “Everything Everywhere” reap significant rewards, both films can be considered top contender nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Both films tied a SAG record: Each scored four individual acting nominations plus an ensemble nod, a five-nomination tally that has only been managed in the past by “Shakespeare in Love,” “Chicago” and “Doubt.”

Banshees landed nods for best actor in a leading role (Colin Farrell), best supporting actor (Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan) and best supporting actress (Kerry Condon).

Everything Everywhere also landed nods for best actress (Michelle Yeoh), best supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan), best supporting actress (Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu).
