Tinubu Condoles With Katsina Government, Victims over Fire Outbreak

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu have sympatized with those affected by the fire incident that engulfed Katsina Central Market and donated the sum of N50 million as succor.

The leader disclosed this on Wednesday while paying a condolence visit to the Katsina State government and victims of the incident.

He condoled with victims of the fire stating that life was the ultimate and therefore market activities should resume despite the level of damages and destructions recorded.

Tinubu who addressed journalists noted that his visit was to sympathise with the fire victims and also to promote unity.

Describing the incident as unfortunate he stressed the need to promote unity and collaboration among Nigerians. He added that  Nigerians ought to look after their brother.

Meanwhile, it would be noted that the Katsina Central Market was engulfed with fire, early Monday morning, destroying scores of goods and properties valuing millions of naira.

Eyewitnesses had attributed the fire outbreak to an  explosion from gas cylinders sold in one of the shops.

The Federal Government had earlier on Tuesday, delegated six men to commiserate with the victims and also the Governor of the state.

Delegates from the federal government were being received by the Chairman of Traders Union Abbas Labaran Albaba and some selected members of the union including some victims.

The delegation moved with officials of the market alongside victims to get first-hand information and access the level of damages in the affected areas.

The delegation includes the Minister of Interior, Ra’uf Aregbosola, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami as well as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sa’adiyya Umar Faruq and the President’s Spokesman, Garba Shehu.
