UCL: Bayern, Barca Set For Mouthwatering QF Face-off
It was another night to witness the brilliance of Argentinean talisman, Lionel Messi as he helped his side, in no small measure, out of the champions league round of 16 to the quarter finals.
Having played at a 1-1 draw in February, the second leg of the quarter finals clash between Barcelona and Napoli was still very open and up for grabs and as expected, it was a nervy game.
The Catalans took the lead via a Clement Lenglet goal in the 10th minute, despite still trying to find their footing in the game.
In the 23rd minute, the world of football was left in awe as Messi wiggled and maneoverd his way through the Napoli defence to double Barca’s lead and add yet another excellent goal to his collection.
Barca sealed off their first half dominance with a third from the spot by Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez.
Napoli come off strong in the second half, building on Lorenzo Insigne’s converted just at the brink of half time.
The Italian side however failed to keep maintain the high and their inability to produce more goals, handed the Catalans the night with a 3-1 win and a 4-2 aggregate scoreline.
The victory means Barcelona will square up against German giants, Bayern Munich in Lisbon for their 13th consecutive quarter finals appearance come Friday.
Can this Barcelona side that has shown lots of inconsistencies this season hold their own against the champions of Germany who have taken no prisoners in all competitions, so far?
