UCL: Bayern Munich See Off Lyon, Set Up Enthralling Final Clash Against PSG

Bayern Munich are through to the final of the UEFA Champions League following a ‘modest’ 3-0 victory over Lyon

Off the back of a massive 8-2 victory over Barcelona, many expected the German Champions to wreck havoc on Lyon, but that was far from the case in for most part of the game, especially the opening moments.
The French club started off brightly and took the game to Bayern but failed to capitalize on their opponent’s slow start throwing away their chances to take the lead twice with two unfortunate misses from Memphis Delay and Karl Toko Ekambi

A characteristically clinical Bayern took the lead the moment they got the chance to with a screamer from former Arsenal man, Serge Gnabry.

The German soon made it two before half time, bringing his goal tally in the Champions League for Bayern this season to 9 in 9 games. When you play against a team like Bayern Munich, you pay the price for every missed chance!

After the break, Lyon picked up from where they stopped with the energy and momentum, but for all their efforts, they couldn’t get back into the game and to their dismay, it was Polish striker, Lewandoski who found the back of the net with a stunning header in the 88th minute to make it three for the Bundesliga team, as they knocked out Lyon from the Champions League just like they did in 2010, ten years ago.

Robert Lewandowski who is enjoying a stellar season has now scored in every UCL game this season so far and has 55 goals from 44 games for Bayern. With 15 champions league goals, he is 2 goals away from equalling Cristinao Ronaldo’s record of 17 goals in a UEFA Champions League Campaign.

The German Champions who already have 5 Champions League trophies to thier name are looking to make it 6, seven years from when they won their last Champions League triumph (2013) when they take on Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday in what will be the club’s 11th European Cup Final.

Can Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions who are making their first appearance in the Champions League final and also in search of a Champions League trophy themselves stop this seemingly unstoppable Bayern Munich side?

Both teams clearly have everything to play for and we just can’t wait for the showdown!
