UCL: Liverpool crumble before Real Madrid at Anfield

Liverpool suffered a horrific ordeal in the first leg of their Last 16 tie against Real Madrid, as the defending Champions came from 2 goals down to inflict a humbling and historic 5-2 defeat on Jurgen Klopp’s side. 

Liverpool got off to a dream start thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid however found their way back into the through Vinicius Junior’s brace, leaving the game at 2-2 at half time.

With the game now anybody’s game, Madrid, who defeated Liverpool in last season’s final, got back from the break and went on rampage with goals from and Eder Militao and Karim Benzema. 

Liverpool would have to dig very deep to pull a comeback when they go to Spain for the return leg, to qualify for the next round of the competition.
