UCL: Real Madrid set up final against Dortmund with late winner over Bayern
Real Madrid pulled out off yet another signature Champions League semi-final comeback, as they knocked Bayern Munich out with two late goals from Joselu.
Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Semi Finals at the Allianz Arena, both teams headed into the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu with an even chance of scaling through to the final.
Alphonso Davies gave the visitors the lead in the 68th minute, having played out a goalless first half.
With a 3-2 aggregate in favour of Thomas Tuchel’s men, it all seemed certain that Bayern would be in the final, but as we have seen one too many times, nothing is ever certain when Real Madrid is involved until it is over.
In the 88th minute, Joselu bagged na equalizer and three minutes later, he scored what would be the eventual winner.
It was a typical never-say-never Real Madrid performance and now the 14-time UCL winners are poised to make it 15 if they defeat Borussia Dortmund, whom they play in the final on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Wembley.
