One of Africa’s biggest and most decorated artiste, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun a.k.a Wizkid, has been chosen by Nigerians as the African Artiste of the Decade, over Grammy-Award winner, Burna boy.
Drake was recently awarded “Artist of the Decade” at the just concluded 2021 “Billboard Music Awards”, in which his three-year-old son, Adonis joined him on stage to receive the award.
Drake’s achievement set social media buzzing, with fans and lovers of good music seeking such an award in Africa while listing possible artistes worthy of the award.
Following this, popular television personality Adesope Olajide took to social media to seek public opinion, likewise ask people to nominate their African Artist of the Decade if the Billboard Award was to have an African version.
People gave out their opinions and thoughts about who they thought was more deserving of the award. But one comment stood out from the crowd, a comment from Mavin Executive, Don jazzy. The Mavin Boss nominated Wizkid as his African Artiste of the Decade, not minding that both of them are in the same entertainment industry, and should probably be competing.
Airing his views on the subject matter, Don jazzy simply commented ‘Wiz’. Samklef also rendered his opinion by commenting ‘starboy’. This has somehow boosted the morale of Wizkid’s fans, likewise embolden the public because now they can easily stand out and declare Wizkid their ‘Artiste of the Decade’, in the faces of other competing artistes like Davido and Burnaboy.
