Wizkid and Tems won the Best Collaboration alongside Justin Bieber for the remix of ‘Essence’ off Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album.
The Best Collaboration award happens to be a main award category at the event and this is the first time an African act is pulling this off.
Wizkid, who had been absent at the award ceremony, was well represented by Tems as she took center stage to receive the award and give a heartwarming speech.
Essence was nominated against ‘Every Change I Get’ by DJ Khaled ft Lil baby and Lil Durk; ‘Family Ties’ by Baby Seem ft Kendrick Lamar; ‘Whole Lotta’ by Bia ft Nicki Minaj; ‘Way 2 Sexy’, Drake ft Future and Young Thug, and ‘Kiss me More’ by Doja Cat ft SZA.
