Youth Group Debunks Rumoured thrown out Emefiele’s Court Order

The Unified Northern Nigerian Youth Forum has said it is hopeful that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Godwin Emefiele, will get a favourable ruling from the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Their comments follow rumour that Emefiele’s order seeking the Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain the Federal Government from removing him from office even as he joins the presidential race has been thrown out.

The group had noted that the Court never threw out Emefiele’s suit but only adjourned the matter to Thursday, 12th of May 2022.

Meanwhile, Emefiele had, through his counsel, Mike Ozekhome, on Monday, sought an order pending the hearing and determination of the substantive matter.

The CBN chair also prayed to Justice Ahmed Mohammed to stop the Electoral body, INEC, from taking any action against him in the bid to contest the presidential primary by his office. The matter was, however, adjourned to May 12

The group’s Spokesperson Mohammed Sanni Aliyu had, in a statement in Kaduna, said the misconception was deliberately conceived by those who don’t love democracy and those who feel threatened by Emefiele’s presence in the 2023 presidential race.

Expressing optimism, the group said it is hopeful the CBN boss would get a favourable ruling from the court.

The statement partly read, “It has come to the notice of the Unified Northern Nigerian Youth Forum that a baseless rumour has been circulated in the media, especially the social media, that the Federal High Court (Court 3) has thrown out the case between Godwin Emefiele and INEC and/or declined the application for the maintenance of status quo antebellum.

“The above information is not true, but a misconception deliberately conceived by enemies of democracy and Nigeria who are troubled and terrified to their bones that Nigerians have called upon Godwin Emefiele to serve them.”

The youth group further called on Nigerians to remain calm and watchful and disregard any information contrary to the above information.

“Certainly, no one can stop an idea whose time has come, now is the time for Emefiele’s Presidency, for Nigeria to flourish, prosper, wax stronger and be evergreen again,” the group said.
