Yul Edochie, who majorly plays the role of a ritualist in movies, has complained about how he has been receiving private messages from individuals begging him to show them the way.
This is coming days after socialite, Obi Cubana, celebrated an impressive lavish funeral party for his mother, a party which had several Igbo Celebrities flaunt and display their wealth. It also had numerous Igbo businessmen, spray money in bundles. This lavish funeral probably got a lot of individuals thinking that such a display of wealth can only be gotten from rituals, hence the need to reach out to an actor who plays a rather commendable role as a ritualist.
Yul addressed this issue on his Instagram page. He said people have been sending him messages, begging him to show them where they can do money rituals, not knowing that his roles in movies are strictly not related to his reality. He made them understand that his movie roles as a ritualist don’t mean he is one, he likened it to actors in Hollywood action movies. He stressed that the fact that an actor can defend an entire city in a movie doesn’t mean they can actually do that in reality because it’s simply a storyline that they have to act into.
In his words;
“Some people are sending me messages begging me to show them where they can do money rituals.
Come on now guys, come on. Na film I dey act.
Just like American action films where one man will defeat a whole city of bad guys. Na storyline be that, e no dey happen.
Is it now a crime to be a good actor? Make I no chop???Na wa for una oo”.
In 2018, the actor-turned-politician had declared interest to run for the office of the presidency in the 2019 election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party. He later abandoned the ambition — a decision which, according to him, was arrived at “after due consultation”. Earlier this year, Yul once again re-declared his interest to run for the 2023 election.
Nigerians on social media had hilarious reactions to a clip showing the moment Cubana made the cross sign as Kanayo .O. Kanayo, another actor famous for money ritual roles, rained cash on him.
The clip captured the moment a friend rained money on him on the dance floor. Next, it was actor Kanayo O. Kanayo’s turn to spray fresh N500 notes. Cubana was quick to make the cross sign as the movie star popular for money ritual roles did his thing. Interestingly, Kanayo didn’t seem to take any offence as he simply laughed it off and continued spraying the cash.
